The Flint and District Lions Club, chartered in 1973, is affiliated with Lions Club International, a world wide organisation of service clubs founded in Chicago in 1917.
The club is a group of individuals from the local communities who meet twice a month at Flint Golf Club on the first and third Wednesdays at 7.30pm. Their aim is to find ways to serve their communities as well as the international community of nations.
The club conducts a variety of fundraising activities each year to enable it to carry out its many service projects. Examples of such fundraising activities over the years include:
race nights
charity shops
plant sales
golf tournaments
line dancing
and many more activities
Examples of how the club spends the monies raised include:
Message in a Bottle/Wallet scheme
Equipment for local hospitals
phonic ear for a deaf child
electronic reading aid at Flint Library
support for CHICKS, MIND, Spina Bifida groups and the Alzheimer's Society
Guide Dogs
Flood relief on the North Wales coast
Health care for children in Bosnia
and many more worthwhile causes
